Carrie Coon will return to the Broadway stage this winter in a revival of tracy Letts’ psychological thriller, Bug, beginning December 17 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. The production officially opens January 8, 2026.
This marks the latest collaboration between Coon and Letts, who previously worked together at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago. The pair captivated audiences in the 2012 Broadway production of Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, earning critical acclaim for their performances. Bug centers on the unraveling psyche of a waitress embroiled in a relationship with a much younger man, exploring themes of paranoia and isolation.
Letts’ play, originally premiering in 1996, has garnered a reputation for its intense and unsettling portrayal of human vulnerability. Coon’s involvement is expected to draw meaningful attention to this new iteration, given her established Broadway presence and the play’s enduring appeal. The Friedman Theatre, a mainstay of Manhattan Theatre Club, provides an intimate setting for the claustrophobic drama.
