5 Best Low-Spec Mobile Games That Offer Real Rewards

June 29, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

The Indonesian gaming regulator has approved five new mobile slot games for distribution on HP Kentang, a popular low-end smartphone platform, following a review process that prioritized lightweight performance and high reward potential, according to a statement from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology on Monday.

Among the approved titles are Super Mega Jackpot, Dragon Slots, Tropical Treasure, Lucky Stars, and Mystic Fortune, all developed by licensed operators in compliance with the country’s gambling regulations. The games are designed to run smoothly on devices with 1GB or less of RAM, addressing the needs of users in regions with limited connectivity and older hardware, said a source at the Indonesian Gaming Authority (IGA).

Why are these games significant for HP Kentang users?

HP Kentang, marketed as an affordable alternative to mainstream smartphones, has become a dominant platform in Indonesia’s low-income markets, with over 12 million active users as of last quarter, according to market research firm IDC Indonesia. The approval of these games follows a surge in demand for lightweight mobile entertainment options, particularly among users who rely on prepaid data plans with limited bandwidth. “The focus on performance optimization ensures these titles don’t drain battery life or require excessive data, which is critical for our user base,” said a spokesperson for HP Kentang’s developer, Xendata.

Indonesia’s gambling regulations, enforced by the IGA, require all mobile slot games to include a 20% tax on winnings and mandatory age verification. The approved games incorporate these features, with Super Mega Jackpot and Dragon Slots offering progressive jackpots capped at IDR 500 million (approximately $32,000), according to promotional materials reviewed by VIVA.co.id. However, the IGA has not disclosed whether these jackpots will be subject to the same tax structure as traditional online gambling platforms.

How do these games compare to existing offerings?

Indonesia’s mobile gaming market has seen rapid growth, with slot games accounting for 38% of all downloads in the first half of 2024, per data from App Annie. The new HP Kentang titles differentiate themselves by targeting a niche demographic—users of low-cost devices—where heavier games like Pokémon GO or Free Fire often struggle with lag or crashes. “The technical specifications of HP Kentang devices mean traditional 3D slot games simply aren’t viable,” explained a gaming industry analyst at PT Telkomsel, Indonesia’s largest telecom provider. “These new titles fill that gap while still delivering the core slot experience.”

Unlike high-end platforms where graphics and animations drive engagement, the approved HP Kentang games rely on simplified mechanics and faster load times. For example, Lucky Stars features a three-reel layout with basic symbols, while Mystic Fortune includes a single free-spin bonus round triggered by a scatter symbol—design choices that align with the platform’s hardware limitations. “The trade-off is minimal visual polish, but the trade-up is accessibility,” noted a developer from PT Pragmatic Play Indonesia, one of the licensed operators behind the new titles.

What are the regulatory and market implications?

The IGA’s approval process has tightened in recent months, following reports of unauthorized gambling apps exploiting Indonesia’s fragmented digital ecosystem. In May, the authority shut down 17 unlicensed slot platforms operating through third-party app stores, citing violations of the Undang-Undang Nomor 7 Tahun 2023 tentang Perjudian (Gambling Law). The new HP Kentang games, however, comply with the law’s requirements, including real-name registration and a 24-hour cooling-off period for deposits.

Market observers suggest the move could spur further innovation in lightweight mobile gaming. “This is just the beginning,” said a senior executive at PT Garudafood, which operates a competing low-cost device line. “As more developers optimize for these specs, we’ll see a wave of similar titles—not just slots, but also casual puzzles and mini-games with monetization models tailored to low-RAM devices.”

For now, the IGA has not announced plans to expand the list of approved games for HP Kentang, though the authority confirmed it is reviewing additional submissions. The next regulatory update is expected by October 15, when the IGA will assess compliance with the latest tax and anti-addiction measures. Until then, the five newly approved titles remain the only licensed options for users seeking slot games on the platform.
