4 Dead, 4 Injured in Head-On Car Collision in Afyonkarahisar
Four people died and four others sustained injuries when two passenger cars collided head-on along the Emirdağ-Yunak highway in Afyonkarahisar on October 21, 2026, shutting down regional traffic as emergency response units deployed to the scene.
Head-on Collision on the Emirdağ-Yunak Highway
The fatal crash occurred near the Hisar village location along the Emirdağ-Yunak highway. Two vehicles—bearing license plates 42 DVU 92 and 34 CBB 110—crashed directly into one another in a collision that left automobiles severely damaged. Local witnesses immediately alerted emergency services, prompting the dispatch of numerous health, gendarmerie, Disaster and Management Authority (AFAD), and fire department teams to the corridor.
Upon arrival, first responders determined that four occupants traveling in the 42 DVU 92 vehicle had died at the scene. The force of the impact forced the highway to be entirely closed to transit while municipal and provincial response crews commenced clearance and investigative operations.
Identities of Victims and Treatment of the Injured
Official checks at the scene and subsequent morgue transfers identified the individuals who lost their lives in the 42 DVU 92 automobile. The deceased include driver Soner Ertuğrul alongside passengers Süleyman Başaran, Şaban Ayhan, and Hatice Ayhan.
Four other individuals sustained injuries in the impact. The driver of the 34 CBB 110 vehicle, Hüseyin B., along with passengers Rıdvan Güven, Şakir Ertonga, and Yılmaz Ertonga, received initial medical interventions at the crash site before being transported by ambulances to Emirdağ State Hospital for ongoing treatment.
Authorities Investigate Collision After Wreckage Recovery
AFAD and fire department units worked for approximately half an hour to extract the bodies trapped inside the heavily deformed wreckage. The retrieved remains were transferred to the Emirdağ State Hospital morgue for formal identification procedures.
Emirdağ District Adem Topaca traveled to the site shortly after the incident to conduct inspections. The local prosecutor’s office has initiated an official judicial investigation to determine the exact factors that led the two automobiles to collide.
