Earthquake Earth shaking with a magnitude of 4.8 Malang, East Javaand surrounding areas on Tuesday (10/10) evening.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the earthquake occurred at around 23.42 WIB with the earthquake point being at a depth of around 18 kilometers.
“The location of the earthquake was at 8.80 South Latitude, 112.52 East Longitude or around 73 km southwest of Malang Regency, East Java,” read a statement from BMKG via its official X account.
Previously, BMKG reported an earthquake measuring 5.0 magnitude. However, it wasn’t long before the agency corrected it to be a 4.8 magnitude earthquake.
The earthquake that occurred almost at midnight was felt in Karangkates, Kepanjen, Blitar, Lumajang and Jember.
