September 30, 2026 Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor Health

All you need is your body, breath, and a desire to loosen things up. Published September 29, 2026 01:18PM Performing even a brief yoga sequence focused on posture can assist in relaxing muscles that have become stiff from long periods of sitting. If you have spent a significant amount of time in meetings or remained sedentary at your workstation, this routine serves as a beneficial reprieve for the neck, shoulders, wrists, hips, lower back, and your hamstrings. A 3-Minute Standing Yoga Routine for Posture While a mat is not required for this sequence (!), utilizing a yoga strap or hand towel can assist in further releasing tension in your rounded shoulders. Mountain Pose Come to stand in Mountain Pose with your hands together at heart center. Upward Salute Variation Grip your fingers together, push your palms outward, then extend your arms toward the ceiling with your palms turned upward to perform this modified Upward Salute. Press up through your hands to stretch your fingers and wrists. Standing Side Bend Take a deep breath in. With your exhalation, lean to your left in Standing Side Bend. Shift your hips slightly to your right, and take your gaze to your left pinky toe. Stay here for 2 cycles of breath. Come through center with your next inhalation. Exhale as you repeat on your other side. Inhale once more to return to the center, gaze upward, and then exhale while bringing your hands back down to your sides. Standing Forward Bend Variation Interlace your fingers behind your lower back. Keep a slight bend in your elbows and squeeze your arms toward one another. Feel free to use your towel or strap here. Breathe in while elevating your chest, then breathe out to hinge at the hips into a modified Standing Forward Bend. Bend your knees for comfort and let your hands float toward the sky. Remain in this position for 4 breath cycles, moving your feet or adjusting as feels best for your body. Halfway Lift Exhale to release your hands to your shins. Inhale as you lift with a flat back in Halfway Lift. Standing Forward Bend Exhale, fold forward, releasing your neck. Revolved Standing Forward Bend Position your right fingertips on the ground directly under your head, roughly 6 inches in front of your feet. Draw a deep breath in while extending your opposite arm toward the ceiling, twisting your torso in this Revolved Standing Forward Bend. Let your right knee bend as you straighten your left leg. Stay here for 3 full breaths before exhaling back through center and switching sides. Bring both hands down, hands to your shins in Halfway Lift. Lengthen your spine and inhale here. Mountain Pose Press to stand, reach your arms up to the sky. Exhale, hands to heart center.
