2N Takes a Leading Role in Cybersecurity: Awarded CVE Numbering Authority Status
[CITY, STATE] – [DATE] - 2N, a leading provider of intelligent access control and intercom systems, has achieved a meaningful milestone in it’s commitment to security. The company has been officially designated a CVE Numbering Authority (CNA) by the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) Program – a first for any manufacturer in its specific industry.
This prestigious recognition empowers 2N to proactively identify, catalog, and publicly disclose verified security vulnerabilities found within its product line. The direct control over this process dramatically accelerates the communication of potential risks and, crucially, the delivery of effective solutions to customers. It represents a substantial step forward in 2N’s dedication to openness and robust security practices.
“We’ve seen a growing engagement from the security community - researchers, agencies, and our valued customers – reporting potential vulnerabilities,” explains Michal Kratochvíl,CEO of 2N. “Becoming a CNA allows us to respond with greater agility, providing verified facts directly and fostering even stronger trust with our partners. This isn’t just about fixing problems; it’s about building a more secure ecosystem together.”
Previously, 2N relied on its parent company, Axis Communications (also a CNA), to publish vulnerability reports. Over the past year, 2N independently identified and verified seven vulnerabilities, which were published on its dedicated Security Advisories portal. The CNA designation now allows 2N to manage the entire vulnerability lifecycle – from initial discovery to public disclosure – independently and efficiently.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to our colleagues in cybersecurity at Axis Communications for their invaluable collaboration and guidance throughout this process,” adds Kratochvíl. “We also acknowledge and appreciate the support and recognition from MITRE, who made this critically important achievement possible.”
The CVE Program, overseen by MITRE,plays a critical role in global cybersecurity. By maintaining a standardized, publicly accessible list of known software vulnerabilities, the CVE Program enables security professionals worldwide to coordinate responses, prioritize patching efforts, and ultimately, better protect systems from attack. 2N’s participation as a CNA directly contributes to this vital effort.
