Chelsea Construction Soars: New Residential Building Nears Completion
Distinctive Balconies Take Shape on West 19th Street Project
Construction is making significant headway on an 11-story residential building at 227 West 19th Street in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood. This new development, spearheaded by Round Square Development and designed by DXA Studio, will offer eight condominium units and associated amenities.
Ascending Structure Reveals Unique Design Elements
The reinforced concrete frame of the building has now passed the halfway mark, nearing the height of its eight-story neighbor to the east. While scaffolding and protective netting obscure the southern facade, the distinctive triangular floor plates designed for the building’s balconies are visible. Progress suggests the structure could be topped out by the end of summer.

The design features a uniform rise up to the eighth floor, where loggias create a setback on the eastern side, potentially forming a private terrace or communal roof deck. The upper three stories present an L-shaped massing, topped by a flat roof and a light gray bulkhead. The facade will incorporate red brick with textured fluted bond patterns on angled wall sections and the first two stories, complementing the unique balcony protrusions.

Transaction Details and Site History
Previously, the site at 227 West 19th Street was occupied by a two-story building. Round Square acquired the property in October 2023 from JT Falk & Co. for $5.95 million, with the transaction facilitated by brokers Zach Redding and Dylan Kane.

Amenities and Future Occupancy
Residents will benefit from a fitness center, concierge services, and a landscaped rooftop terrace. The closest subway access is the 1 train at the 18th Street station, located along Seventh Avenue. Project completion is anticipated by August 2026, according to site information.
