GBI Investigates Officer-Involved Shootings Across Georgia in June and July 2025

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been actively involved in investigating multiple officer-involved shootings that occured across the state during June and July of 2025. Key incidents under investigation include a shooting in Hapeville on june 21, 2025, involving the Hapeville police Department. In Troup County,the Troup County Sheriff’s Office was involved in an incident on July 1,2025,in Pine Mountain. The Waycross Police Department responded to a shooting on Ketterer Street and N. Crawford Street in Waycross on July 2, 2025, which resulted in one arrest.Further investigations are underway for incidents in DeKalb County on July 8, 2025, near I-285 in Decatur, and in Lamar County on the same date, involving the Department of Natural Resources near Highway 341 and Brent Road in Barnesville. The McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a shooting on Leslie Street in Thomson on July 12, 2025.
