Vietnam Prepares for Landmark 2025 High School Graduation Exam

HANOI, Vietnam – Vietnam is gearing up to conduct its largest High School Graduation Exam in 2025, with over 1.1 million students from 63 provinces and cities registered to participate. This year’s exam is particularly significant as it marks the first assessment for students following the 2018 general education program, while also accommodating those still under the 2006 curriculum. The extensive preparations are taking place against a backdrop of ongoing administrative reforms across the country [[3]].

Extensive Preparations Underway

The scale of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam necessitates a thorough and meticulous approach to ensure its smooth and fair execution. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has emphasized the critical importance of maintaining safety, honesty, and objectivity throughout the entire process. This includes strict management to prevent any form of cheating and a clear assignment of responsibilities to all personnel involved.

To support this massive undertaking, approximately 200,000 individuals, including public officials, educators, police officers, military personnel, medical staff, and power company employees, are being mobilized. Key Changes and Considerations for the High School Graduation Exam

Several factors make the 2025 High School Graduation Exam unique. Firstly, it is indeed the first exam cycle that reflects the curriculum changes implemented in 2018. Secondly, the exam is being conducted amidst nationwide administrative reforms, including the reorganization of local government structures and police forces. Online Registration and Candidate Demographics

In a move to streamline the registration process,all students were able to register online for the exams between April 21 and April 28,2025. this is an expansion from 2024, where only 12th-grade students had online registration access.

Of the 1,165,289 registered candidates, the vast majority (1,138,579, or 97.71%) are following the 2018 curriculum. The remaining 26,711 candidates (2.29%) are still under the 2006 general education program.

Support for Students in Difficult Circumstances

Recognizing that some students face greater challenges than others, the government is committed to providing maximum support to those in remote areas or difficult environments. This includes assistance with accommodation and transportation to ensure that all eligible students can participate in the exam without undue hardship.

Binh Dinh Province’s Preparations

As an example of the preparations taking place across the country, Binh Dinh province has essentially completed its preparations for the 2025 High School Graduation Exams. The province has 20,154 registered applicants, including 407 independent candidates. There are 47 test sites in 11 groups, high schools or middle schools in villages and cities.more than 2,900 civil servants, civil servants and public employees participated in the test.
