FAIRBANKS,Alaska – An $1 million arrest warrant has been issued for 18-year-old Darius Morgan in connection with the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy at a party in Fairbanks last month.
Alaska State Troopers say Morgan was last seen in the Fairbanks area in late October adn may now be in Anchorage. Authorities warn the public to consider him armed and risky.
A grand jury indicted Morgan on Friday, charging him with first- and second-degree murder.
troopers responded to reports of gunfire at a Fairbanks residence around 1:30 a.m.on October 25.Witnesses described the gathering as a “college party,” and many people fled the scene after shots were fired.
Upon arrival, troopers found the 15-year-old victim deceased outside under a deck, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Investigators recovered pistol magazines and shell casings at the scene.
Multiple witnesses identified Morgan as being at the party and carrying a handgun. One witness reported seeing him tuck a black, semi-automatic pistol into his waistband prior to the shooting. Others recognized Morgan and stated he was known to carry a firearm, though none witnessed him firing the weapon.
Court records indicate Morgan was convicted of second-degree robbery in December 2024, prohibiting him from possessing a firearm. A separate warrant had previously been issued for third-degree misconduct involving weapons related to that conviction.
