Zoe Saldaña Overtakes Scarlett Johansson as Highest-Grossing Actor of All Time
Thanks to Avatar: Fire and Ash, Zoe Saldaña has officially become the highest-grossing actor of all time worldwide.
The Numbers Speak Volumes
According to The Numbers, Saldaña’s current gross, including the global box office take for the new Avatar installment, is nearly $17 billion. Scarlett Johansson closely trails behind with a current gross of just under $16.5 billion. There’s currently a $423 million difference between the two, a gap that’s likely to widen as Avatar continues its theatrical run.
Avatar: Fire and Ash Fuels the Change
James Cameron’s Avatar: fire and Ash has already grossed $342 million domestically and $888 million worldwide,totaling approximately $1.2 billion and continuing to climb. Given the original 2009 Avatar film remains the highest-grossing film of all time (not accounting for inflation), the success of this sequel – and 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water – is not surprising.
How Does Johansson’s Latest Fare?
While Scarlett Johansson’s recent film, Jurassic World Rebirth, was a box office success, it didn’t reach the heights of the Avatar franchise. Jurassic World Rebirth earned $869 million globally, falling short of Avatar’s current earnings by about $330 million.
What’s Next for These Stars?
both actresses have upcoming projects, but only one appears poised to potentially challenge Saldaña’s new position. That project is The Batman Part II, currently scheduled for release in 2027.
No matter the numbers,both Zoe Saldaña and Scarlett Johansson are undeniably among the industry’s most talented performers.
