Veneto⁤ Governor Luca Zaia stated the region’s new administration will‍ be technically operational in early December, ‍allowing for⁣ budget‍ preparation‌ and approval anticipated in January or February. This follows Zaia’s announcement of a “temporary‍ exercise” in view of upcoming⁢ regional elections.

Zaia explained that approving ‍a budget during the election campaign ⁢woudl have been “truly tough⁣ and also not very correct,” as ‍the⁣ timing would have been problematic. He noted ⁣a budget typically arrives in early December,⁤ having been ⁤presented in August for a mid-November timeframe. He affirmed the region is⁤ not behind schedule despite the election period, with dates for⁣ the vote to be ‌decided between ⁢October and November,⁤ with November 23rd and 24th representing the latest⁤ possible dates.

The Governor also addressed potential meetings with League leader Matteo Salvini, stating, “we will cross [paths], but no meeting is scheduled.”

The upcoming regional elections in ⁤Veneto, along with six other regions, are a key focus of the Italian‍ political landscape. The timing of the ‍budget approval is crucial ⁣for the incoming administration to effectively manage regional finances and implement ⁤policy initiatives.
