Yvonne Coldeweijer‘s New Show Gets Brief Timeslot: Will 30 Minutes Be enough?
Net5 is launching a daily program hosted by Yvonne Coldeweijer on January 3rd, but the show’s half-hour duration is raising eyebrows among television analysts. TV expert Tina Nijkamp expressed skepticism about the program’s potential success, citing the challenging timeslot and limited runtime.
Nijkamp, speaking on her podcast Tina’s TV Update, questioned the decision to schedule the show for only 30 minutes, from 8:00 PM to 8:30 PM. “That actually shocked me the most, that it is only half an hour and not an hour, because half-hour programs on small channels, well, that is almost impossible,” she stated.
The new program will replace Masterchef, which currently airs from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM and attracts an average of 135,000 viewers – a high number for a foreign purchase title on Net5. Nijkamp believes this comparison highlights the difficulty Coldeweijer will face.
“The chance that she will reach 500,000 viewers or so seems minimal to me,” Nijkamp continued, emphasizing the importance of “linear television viewing” for advertising revenue. She also pointed out the limitation of only being able to include one commercial break within the 30-minute timeframe.
While acknowledging the possibility of an unexpected hit, Nijkamp concluded that Coldeweijer has been placed in a “tough” and “not the easiest” slot.
