Yoza Sets Sights on Superlek, Driven by Promise to Avenge Takeru’s Loss
Bangkok, Thailand – Yuki Yoza is laser-focused on avenging Takeru segawa’s devastating defeat, declaring “I’ll take care of it. I’m definitely going to win,” as he prepares to face Superlek Kiatmoo9 in a highly anticipated matchup. The Japanese striker views a victory over the former two-sport ONE World Champion as a crucial step toward challenging for the ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title, currently held by Jonathan haggerty.
Yoza’s determination stems from a personal commitment made to Takeru following the Thai superstar’s first-round knockout of the Japanese boxing icon in December 2023.However, the bout represents far more than retribution for Yoza; it’s a pivotal test against a pound-for-pound great and a direct pathway to championship contention.
Since joining ONE Championship, yoza has quickly established himself as a force in the bantamweight division. He debuted with an impressive win over Elbrus Osmanov at ONE Friday Fights 109 and followed it up by outclassing former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing world Champion Petchtanong Petchfergus, extending his overall winning streak to 12 fights.
Superlek, 29, presents a important leap in competition. The Thai fighter has previously held both the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Titles, boasting victories over elite competitors including Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Jonathan Haggerty.
Acknowledging the challenge, Yoza expressed confidence in his striking prowess, stating, “I’ve had some close fights, but I’ve never felt like I outright lost or was about to lose in a pure striking exchange. That’s actually something I’m really looking forward to testing in this next fight.”
A win over Superlek would not only fulfill his pledge to Takeru but also position Yoza as the clear next challenger for Haggerty’s title. “This fight isn’t the goal,” Yoza affirmed. “I’m not underestimating him at all,but beating him is just the start. Standing in front of me now is Superlek, but my real target is Haggerty.”
