Yokohama rubber to⁤ Supply Tires for New Hydrogen-Powered Extreme H Racing Series

LONDON – Yokohama Rubber has secured a partnership to become ‍the official tire ​supplier for ⁢Extreme H, the hydrogen-powered off-road racing series spun ⁤off from⁢ Extreme E. The agreement, announced today, will see Yokohama provide⁢ tires for the inaugural Extreme H world Cup in ​2025 and beyond.

The collaboration ⁤arrives as⁣ Extreme H accelerates its transition from electric to hydrogen power, following ⁣the cancellation of the remainder of its 2024 Extreme E season to⁤ focus on the shift. Originally slated to become an official ‌FIA world championship in 2026, ‌the series will now launch‌ as‌ the Extreme H⁣ World Cup in ‍2025, showcasing the viability of⁢ hydrogen as a clean energy solution in motorsports. This partnership with Yokohama Rubber underscores the growing investment in ​and commitment to hydrogen ‌technology within the racing world.

Extreme H distinguishes itself with a commitment⁤ to gender parity, mandating teams‌ field an equal number of male and female drivers. The series’⁤ off-road ⁣race format is designed to⁤ test the limits of hydrogen fuel cell technology ​in challenging environments.

Yokohama Rubber’s involvement‌ extends beyond motorsport; the company ⁤is also ‍a partner ‍of the ATP Tour in men’s tennis.
