A Cult Band Returns to the Stage

After a period of infrequent appearances, the legendary band Yellow Postmen are set to perform at Wagon Hall on Saturday, April 12. This concert promises a rare chance to witness the iconic group live.

Formed in 1981 by Ingus Baušķenieks, the Yellow Postmen quickly achieved cult status in Latvia. Their unique sound and artistic vision resonated with audiences, despite limited exposure on radio and television.

• Early Years: The band operated primarily as a home studio group, meticulously crafting their recordings by assembling and editing various song fragments.
• Limited Concerts: Until the latter half of the 1980s, live performances were scarce, adding to their mystique.
• Extensive Discography: The Yellow Postmen have released nine albums under the Pastnieki name, along with several solo recordings by Baušķenieks.

Opening Acts: Scales and Aunt Waiting

The Yellow Postmen will be supported by two up-and-coming acts: the band Scales and Aunt Waiting. These opening performances are expected to add to the eclectic atmosphere of the evening.

We have previously organized a similar event that brings together generations in one room and time – they were ‘postmen’ and Agenskalns youth duo ‘Dog feed’. A colossal concert, as if we doubted whether the younger generation knows the “postmen”, there is there’s no doubt whatsoever – they even sing along! This year we realized that the young musicians meet with Latvian classics. Will be sincere!
