XRP Surges Past ethereum in Q2 2025 Trading Volume on Coinbase

XRP has unexpectedly claimed the second most traded asset position on Coinbase in the second quarter of 2025,surpassing Ethereum (ETH).This growth marks a notable shift in market dynamics, with XRP accounting for 13 percent of the platform’s trade revenue, while Ethereum garnered 12 percent. Bitcoin (BTC) remains the dominant asset with 34 percent.

XRP’s Ascendancy and Market Context

The surge in XRP’s trading volume is a notable departure from previous trends. In the frist half of 2025, XRP generated 16 percent of Coinbase’s revenue, compared to Ethereum’s 11 percent. This contrasts sharply with 2024, when XRP’s market share was negligible, trading around $0.50 amidst prevailing pessimism.

This resurgence is largely attributed to a shift in political sentiment in Washington following donald Trump’s election victory. The improved outlook has brought renewed hope for a resolution to the protracted lawsuit between Ripple and the securities and Exchange commission (SEC). the price of XRP has reflected this optimism, climbing 632 percent from it’s 2024 low to reach a peak of $3.66,a level not seen since 2018.

While Ethereum has also experienced substantial growth, recovering from a low of $1,500 in early 2024 to a local peak of $3,930 (a 160 percent increase),XRP’s momentum currently outpaces it.
