Xiaomi Phones: New Models with Huge Batteries & 200MP Cameras Expected

March 24, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Early leaks suggest Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Redmi K100 series, consisting of the Redmi K100 and Redmi K100 Pro Max models, potentially as early as September or October 2026. The information, originating from sources within China, details potential codenames, model numbers, and anticipated specifications for the upcoming smartphones.

According to findings reported by Xiaomitime, the standard Redmi K100 is codenamed “Athens” with the internal model number Q11. The higher-end variant, the Redmi K100 Pro Max, is reportedly codenamed “Songyuan” and carries the model number Q11X. Both models are expected to utilize high-performance Qualcomm processors, building on the tradition of the K90 series which featured the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

A recent leak specifically focusing on the Redmi K100 Pro Max indicates a significant emphasis on multimedia capabilities. Details shared on Weibo by blogger “@Smart Pikachu” suggest enhancements to the audio system and haptic feedback motor. The device is also rumored to feature a 200-megapixel primary camera sensor, potentially a 1-inch type, alongside a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens for enhanced optical zoom.

The Redmi K100 series is also anticipated to follow a global rebranding strategy similar to its predecessors, potentially launching internationally as the Poco F9 Pro and Poco F9 Pro Max. This aligns with Xiaomi’s established practice of releasing devices under different brands in various markets.

The Redmi K90 Pro Max previously included a Bose 2.1 channel speaker setup, and sources suggest the K100 series will continue to prioritize audio quality. The Pro Max model is currently estimated to start around CNY 5,000, which translates to approximately $725 at current exchange rates.

Xiaomi may be seeking to further differentiate the release schedules of its China-exclusive Redmi K Ultra series and the globally-released Xiaomi T-series.
