Xbox Update March 24: New OS Version & Stability Improvements
Microsoft rolled out a new system update for Xbox consoles on Wednesday, March 24, affecting Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S devices. The update, identified as OS version 10.0.26100, is described as a minor firmware patch and is being delivered silently to users.
According to Microsoft, the primary changes included in this update focus on improving overall stability and performance. The company did not provide specific details regarding the nature of these improvements.
The release comes ahead of a planned Xbox Partner Preview event scheduled for Thursday, March 26, at 10 a.m. PT. This showcase will feature games from third-party publishers and is expected to include “brand-new reveals,” according to Microsoft.
Beyond the immediate update, Microsoft is as well reportedly developing a next-generation Xbox console, internally codenamed “Project Helix.” Details surrounding Project Helix remain scarce, but the company’s new CEO has indicated a commitment to the project. The potential launch timeframe for the new console is currently estimated for 2027.
The future direction of Xbox under its new leadership remains a key point of discussion. Questions persist regarding Microsoft’s strategy as a third-party publisher and whether the company will prioritize exclusive titles for its next-generation console. Microsoft is currently offering a promotion where customers who purchase select Xbox Series X consoles can acquire a three-year Microsoft Complete protection plan for $1, a $48 value, through March 31. Discounts of up to $100 are available on refurbished Xbox Series X|S consoles. Trade-in offers of up to $130 are also available for eligible consoles through March 31.
