WWE SmackDown: 3 Things We Loved & 3 Things We Hated (Feb 13, 2026)

February 14, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Cody Rhodes qualified for the Men’s Elimination Chamber match after defeating Sami Zayn and Jacob Fatu in a Triple Threat qualifier on Friday night’s WWE SmackDown, despite interference from Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, according to results released Saturday.

The match, held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, saw McIntyre attempt to prevent Rhodes from earning his place in the Elimination Chamber, a move that continues a storyline stemming from Rhodes’ desire for a rematch with McIntyre after being denied one previously. Rhodes initially sought a rematch with McIntyre after losing to him at WrestleMania 39, a desire that was further fueled when McIntyre denied him a title opportunity.

Elsewhere on SmackDown, Alexa Bliss also secured her spot in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match, defeating Giulia and Zelina Vega in a separate Triple Threat qualifier. Bliss’ victory came after weeks of tension with Charlotte Flair, following Flair’s accidental elimination of Bliss from the Women’s Royal Rumble earlier this month. The pair seemingly reconciled during a backstage segment, with Flair gifting Bliss a signed photo and black roses, a gesture Bliss accepted, adding a layer of complexity to their future interactions, particularly with the Elimination Chamber looming.

Jade Cargill retained the WWE Women’s Championship against Jordynne Grace in her first title defense since winning the championship on January 4th. However, the match was overshadowed by a concurrent “date” at ringside between Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio, alongside Raquel Rodriguez, drawing criticism for detracting from the championship bout. Cargill then confronted Morgan after the match, stating, “If you choose me, that will be you,” in reference to Morgan’s upcoming WrestleMania challenge.

The Women’s Tag Team Championship match between champions Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY and challengers Nia Jax and Lash Legend ended in a no contest after a brawl spilled outside the ring. The chaotic finish prompted criticism, with some observers questioning the necessity of a title match ending in such a manner.

Trick Williams defeated Rey Fenix following a backstage altercation last week, continuing his momentum heading into an Elimination Chamber qualifier next week against Carmelo Hayes and Damien Priest. Williams’ continued success has been noted for his growing popularity with fans, despite being positioned as a heel.

McIntyre’s interference in the main event has drawn scrutiny, with some suggesting it represents a potential direction towards a WrestleMania main event between McIntyre and Rhodes, a prospect some observers view as unappealing, potentially blocking a women’s main event.
