WWE Raw Absent from netflix Top 10 Amid ‘Stranger Things‘ Surge
WWE Raw was not featured in Netflix‘s global top 10 English-language shows for the week of November 24, marking the first time the wrestling programme has been excluded from the ranking since its debut on the streaming platform. The omission isn’t indicative of declining viewership, but rather a result of the highly anticipated release of Stranger Things Season 5.
This marks a significant, though likely temporary, shift in Netflix’s viewing data. The inclusion of WWE Raw on Netflix is a key component of the company’s strategy to broaden its sports entertainment offerings and attract a wider audience. While Raw’s absence from the top 10 doesn’t promptly signal trouble, continued exclusion coudl influence future content deals and programming decisions.
The November 24th episode of Raw missed the rankings as all five seasons of Stranger Things occupied positions within the top 10. Season 5 garnered nearly 60 million views, with the preceding seasons also experiencing a surge in viewership as fans re-watched the series. A show needed at least 3.96 million views globally to break into the top 10 this week.
For context, the November 17 episode of Raw achieved 3.1 million views - its highest number in seven months. Due to falling outside the top tier, Netflix has not publicly released viewership data for the November 24 episode.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer clarified the situation, stating, “Because of the debut of Stranger Things and its multiple episodes, Raw last Monday 11/24 was not in the top ten among English TV shows for the first time. so no numbers at all are available nor will they be until likely January for this past week. The No. 10 show did 3,962,000 worldwide views, far more than Raw ever does, so this is not an indication at all that Raw did a bad number.”
