As Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025 commences Monday, iOS developers in India are keenly awaiting announcements focused on enhancing productivity and refining the developer experience. While global attention centers on Apple Intelligence, the Indian developer community also hopes for significant improvements to Xcode.
Xcode Performance is a Priority
Akshat Srivastava, a 2024 Swift Student Challenge winner, emphasized the importance of WWDC for the community. For teams building enterprise apps, small gains in Xcode performance – faster compile times, stable simulators, and more reliable SwiftUI previews – can make a big difference,
he said.
Srivastava also believes that AI tools tailored for iOS workflows could address shortcomings in more generalized code assistants.
Design Consistency and Accessible AI APIs
Independent developer Harshil Shah, who has been creating apps for Apple platforms since 2017, expressed excitement about the possibility of a unified design language across iOS and macOS. A consistent design language would simplify UI decisions across platforms and benefit users and developers alike,
he stated. He also highlighted the need for accessible APIs for Apple Intelligence, without excessive hardware requirements, to empower a wider range of developers.

he explained. An AI-native Xcode experience, built by Apple and integrated locally, would be ideal for many companies.
Mayank Gupta, who leads Swift Anytime, an independent Apple developer community, believes the ecosystem is poised for greater collaboration. SwiftUI has matured and is widely adopted among startups. But for legacy apps, UIKit remains entrenched,
he noted. He also welcomed Apple’s recent community events in Bengaluru and hopes for increased developer engagement in India, which boasts a substantial iOS talent pool.
