Wrestling News: AEW Revolution, WWE WrestleMania, Ratings & More – Daily Update
Tony Khan, owner of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), made a bid to purchase WWE in 2023 before the company was ultimately sold to Endeavor and formed TKO, according to recent court filings revealed this week. The revelation, reported by Brandon Thurston of POST Wrestling and detailed in a shareholder lawsuit, marks the first time Khan’s attempt to acquire his biggest competitor has been publicly acknowledged.
The filings indicate that Khan’s company, Base 10, was one of four entities to submit offers for WWE. The others were Formula One parent company Liberty Media, private equity firm KKR, and Endeavor. Whereas previous reports identified Liberty and KKR, Khan’s involvement was redacted from public documents until recently. SEC filings referred to Base 10 as “Strategic Party 2,” noting the company “indicated that it would need equity and debt financing partners in order to complete a transaction with WWE.”
The lawsuit alleges that the merger process was unfair, claiming that Endeavor was preselected by former WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon due to an agreement with Endeavor executive Ari Emanuel, who was promised a role in the new company. The court documents highlight the potential synergies between AEW and WWE should the acquisition have been successful, stating that Base 10 “plainly would enjoy significant synergies with WWE.”
The disclosure comes as AEW prepares for its Revolution pay-per-view event on Sunday, March 16, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. Tony Khan announced on social media that the event is officially sold out. The card features a Texas Death Match for the AEW World Championship between MJF and Hangman Page, with the stipulation that Page will be barred from future title challenges if he loses. Other matches include AEW Women’s World Championship, AEW World Tag Team Championship, and AEW Continental Championship bouts.
