The Ministry of Health and the IMSS Welfare depiction, through the General Hospital of Cuernavaca “Dr. José G. Parres,” are leading the call for increased awareness and preventative action.
Interventionist cardiologist Arturo Campos santa Olalla stresses that making conscious, sustainable lifestyle choices is key to protecting your heart. “Cardiovascular diseases encompass a wide range of conditions, including obesity, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, stroke, peripheral vascular disease, heart failure, rheumatic and congenital heart defects, cardiomyopathies, and dyslipidemia,” explained dr. Campos Santa olalla.
The good news, he notes, is that many heart diseases are preventable. while factors like age and family history play a role, notable risk can be mitigated by addressing lifestyle choices. Key risk factors include a poor diet, lack of physical activity, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, diabetes, obesity, and chronic stress.
To safeguard your cardiovascular health, Dr. Campos Santa Olalla recommends adopting these habits:
