Woman struck and killed in Mississauga hit-and-run – CP24
A woman in her 70s died after being struck by a vehicle in Mississauga on Tuesday evening. Peel Regional Police confirmed the collision occurred in the area of Creditview Road and Eglinton Avenue West, and the driver involved fled the scene before officers arrived.
## Investigation into the fatal collision
Emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection shortly after 7:30 p.m. on October 22 following reports of a pedestrian collision. Upon arrival, officers located the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Peel Regional Police’s Major Collision Bureau has assumed carriage of the investigation. Investigators spent several hours at the scene collecting evidence and interviewing potential witnesses to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
## Search for the suspect vehicle
Police have not yet provided a detailed description of the vehicle involved, nor have they released the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin. Authorities are currently reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residential properties in an attempt to identify the driver.
The intersection of Creditview Road and Eglinton Avenue West remained closed to traffic for several hours while the scene was processed. Police have requested that anyone with dashcam footage or information regarding the vehicle’s direction of travel contact the Major Collision Bureau or provide anonymous tips through Peel Crime Stoppers.
The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to canvas the area for additional evidence.
