LOS ANGELES – Actress Reese Witherspoon revealed Saturday she harbored ambitions of becoming a surgeon for years, a career path heavily influenced by her parents’ professions. The Oscar winner shared the childhood aspiration during a public appearance in Los Angeles,as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
WitherspoonS father worked as a surgeon, and her mother as a nurse, immersing her from a young age in a world of medical discussion. This early exposure sparked a prolonged interest in the field, shaping her childhood dreams. The revelation comes as Witherspoon prepares to release her debut novel, a medical thriller co-authored with Harlan Coben, highlighting a continuing connection to the world of medicine.
“For five years of my life, we lived on a military base in Germany, and everyone who came to our house was a doctor, exclusively speaking in medical terminology,” Witherspoon recounted. “I was very young, sitting at the dining table, listening to my father and his colleagues, and my mother and her friends, discussing incredibly intense surgeries.”
The forthcoming thriller, titled “Ohne ein letztes Wort” (Without a Last Word),is slated for release on October 15th. It marks Witherspoon’s first venture into novel writing, demonstrating her ongoing fascination with the themes and settings that captivated her as a child.
