Predazzo, Italy – Domen Prevc of Slovenia secured his second gold medal of the 2026 Winter Olympics on Saturday, winning the men’s large hill ski jumping competition at the Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium. The victory came after a challenging performance in the individual normal hill event earlier in the week, where he finished sixth.

Prevc’s winning jump came after a tense competition where he trailed Japan’s Ren Nikaidō following the first round. Nikaidō had set a strong opening jump of 140.0 meters, establishing a seven-point lead. Prevc, known for his ability to manipulate his body in the air, responded with a spectacular second-round effort to overtake Nikaidō and claim the gold.

The large hill competition favored Prevc’s strengths, prioritizing flying ability. This win marks a significant moment in his career, bringing him within reach of tying Matti Nykänen’s Olympic record of three gold medals in a single Games. Prevc previously won gold in the mixed team normal hill event, alongside his sister, Nika Prevc.

Ren Nikaidō of Japan took the silver medal, while Kacper Tomasiak of Poland secured the bronze. The podium finishers were photographed together following the event, celebrating their achievements at the Milan Cortina Olympics.

Prevc’s success follows a period of resurgence in his career, having returned to the sport’s pinnacle in the past season. He comes from a family deeply rooted in ski jumping, with all his siblings participating in the sport, and two already holding Olympic gold medals.

The competition took place in rainy conditions, adding to the challenge for the jumpers. Prevc’s ability to perform under pressure and adapt to the conditions proved crucial to his victory. He is currently the World Cup leader.
