Despite Benjamin’s on-screen death, discussions about Post’s return occurred, with producers even soliciting ideas from the actor himself. Post suggested a storyline where someone resembling both Benjamin and Robin would lead viewers to believe it was him. However, the idea required Verheijen’s participation, and he declined to rejoin the cast.
Fajah Lourens, who previously played Yasmin Fuentes on the soap, highlighted the show’s willingness to circumvent character deaths, revealing she was approached about a possible return a year and a half prior, despite her character’s fatal car accident. Lourens playfully suggested anything is possible in Meerdijk, referencing her own previous storyline as a ghost.
