WiCi One Wireless eGPU Brings RTX 5060 Ti and 5090 Performance Over Wi-Fi 7
The WiCi One wireless external GPU system connects an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti to a laptop via Wi-Fi 7, attempting to bypass traditional physical cables like Thunderbolt or OCuLink. Wi-Fi 7 replaces traditional eGPU connections. Traditional external GPUs depend on a high-bandwidth physical connection, but the WiCi One removes that cable entirely.
The system uses a virtual driver that presents the GPU to the host as a local graphics device. According to the company, the design is not simply streaming a game from another PC. Instead, WiCi uses caching, compression, deduplication, streaming, and pipelining to manage data over the wireless link.
Bandwidth Limitations of Wi-Fi 7
The biggest technical challenge is bandwidth. While Wi-Fi 7 is capable of theoretical maximum speeds of around 46.1 Gbps, the 4×4 radio inside the Wici One, running at 320 MHz, tops out at an estimated theoretical link rate of roughly 11.5 Gbps. This is considerably lower than OCuLink PCIe 4.0 x4 or Thunderbolt 5, which can provide bandwidth up to 64 Gbps or 80 Gbps.
Performance and Pricing
WiCi claims the RTX 5060 Ti version is capable of running Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K Ultra with DLSS 4 up to 80 FPS, while Black Myth: Wukong reaches 60 FPS on the 4K Cinematic preset. However, these figures come from company testing and have not yet been independently verified. Real-world performance may change depending on distance, interference, and obstacles.
The entry model comes with an Intel Core 3 100U and 1 TB of NVMe storage, and is expected to start at $1,999 for early sign-ups with a regular price of $2,599, with planned shipping in Q4 2026. A higher-end version is also planned featuring an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 with 32GB, an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor, and 4TB of storage, though pricing for the RTX 5090 version has not been announced.
