Taylor Russell has exited the upcoming remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, with her role set to be recast, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The film, directed by and starring Michael B. Jordan, is currently in production in London.
The new thomas Crown Affair is a reimagining of the 1968 classic that featured Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. Drew Pearce penned the screenplay, building on earlier drafts by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson.
russell was slated to star opposite Jordan in the production. The ensemble cast also includes Kenneth Branagh,Lily Gladstone,Danish Gurira,Pilou Asbæk,and Aiysha Hart. Jordan, Elizabeth Raposo, Patrick McCormick, and Marc Toberoff are producing, with Alan Trustman, the writer of the original film, serving as an executive producer.
Looking ahead, Russell is scheduled to appear in Na Hong-jin’s Korean thriller Hope, sharing the screen with Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, and Jung Ho-yeon. She is also set to co-star with David Jonsson in an upcoming film from Frank Ocean. Furthermore,Russell is in discussions for a role in a remake of Single White Female,opposite Jenna Ortega,for 3000 Pictures.
The Thomas crown Affair remake from amazon MGM Studios is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 5, 2027.
