Tensions between Cambodia and Thailand have escalated, with both nations asserting their right to respond to armed aggression with force.

While past conflicts between Cambodia and Thailand have largely subsided, the current standoff shows no immediate signs of de-escalation. Neither contry’s leadership has demonstrated a willingness to back down from the confrontation.

Hun Manet, son of Cambodia’s former leader, is still establishing his authority.His father, Hun Sen, appears poised to leverage the dispute to bolster his nationalist credentials.

In Thailand,former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra‘s coalition goverment faces instability. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, his daughter, was reportedly removed from her prime ministerial post following the leak of a voice recording attributed to Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Hun Sen.
