Mongolia Welcomes Eco-Conscious Retreat: Yeruu Lodge Opens Doors in Selenge Province
Nestled along the Yeruu River in Mongolia’s Selenge province,Yeruu lodge,a sustainable eco-retreat,is set to open in April 2023. Founded by Norwegian Eirik Gulsrud Johnsen, who was inspired by a visit to Mongolia in 2017, the lodge embodies scandinavian minimalism and a deep commitment to environmental responsibility.
Yeruu Lodge offers guests a unique experience with its Scandinavian-style restaurant and dining area, cozy yurts for accommodation, and a range of recreational activities. Visitors can enjoy two pétanque courts, kayaking, a driving range, and mountain biking, alongside a dedicated yoga area, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts.
Operating entirely off-grid,the lodge utilizes solar panels for power and thermal heating. All water is sourced from an on-site well and is recycled after use, further minimizing its environmental footprint. the lodge also prioritizes waste reduction thru thorough recycling of glass, metal, and plastic. Food waste is transformed into compost, which is then used to cultivate vegetables, berries, and herbs on the property.
