White Silver City: A Fantasy Detective Adventure Now Open for PC Registration via the ‘Divide and Conquer’ Test

June 26, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

The developer behind the critically acclaimed detective adventure game White City has opened recruitment for a “binary test” event tied to its upcoming expansion, White City: Silver City, but participation is restricted to PC players only.

According to a statement from the game’s official announcement, the “binary test” is a closed beta for a new gameplay mechanic called “binary testing,” which will be introduced in Silver City. The event is scheduled to begin on June 15, 2024, and will run for a limited time, with registration exclusively available to PC players through the game’s official website.

While the announcement does not specify the exact nature of the binary test, industry sources familiar with the project suggest it will involve a dual-progression system, where players’ choices will influence the game’s narrative and world state in real-time. The test is designed to gather feedback before the full release of Silver City, expected later this year.

Why is the test limited to PC players?

The restriction to PC platforms reflects a strategic decision by the developer, as confirmed by the game’s official channels. Unlike previous expansions, which supported both PC and console versions, Silver City will initially launch exclusively for PC, with console ports potentially announced at a later stage. This approach allows the developer to refine the binary testing mechanic before expanding to other platforms.

Why is the test limited to PC players?

Players who wish to participate must meet specific eligibility criteria, including prior ownership of White City or its base game, White City: The Enigma. The developer has not disclosed the exact number of participants, but industry estimates suggest the test will involve between 5,000 and 10,000 players, selected through a lottery system.

What happens next for Silver City?

The binary test is part of a broader development cycle for Silver City, which has been in closed beta testing since early 2024. According to internal documents reviewed by Hong Kong Business Times, the expansion will introduce a new city district, additional detective cases, and a revamped crime-solving system. The developer has also hinted at potential cross-platform integration in future updates, though no official timeline has been confirmed.

For now, PC players remain the primary focus, with the binary test serving as a critical milestone before the full release. The developer has not commented on whether console versions will be delayed or if the test results will influence the final product’s design.

Registration for the binary test opens on June 10, 2024, with the event itself beginning five days later. Players are advised to check the game’s official website for updates, as participation is subject to availability.
