Two Years After murdering His Wife, Colorado Dentist James Craig Remains Incarcerated as Family Navigates Aftermath
Las Animas, Colo. – Two years after being sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of his wife, Angela Craig, dentist James Craig remains incarcerated at the Bent County Correctional Facility in Las Animas, Colorado, according to the Colorado Department of Corrections. The case, which captivated national attention, continues to reverberate through the lives of the couple’s six children and both families, as they grapple with the long-term consequences of the horrific crime.
The July 30, 2025 sentencing brought a measure of closure to a grueling trial, but the impact of James Craig’s actions continues to unfold. The case highlights the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the complex challenges faced by families left to rebuild after such a tragedy. As of January 2025, the craig children are navigating a new normal, with three now adults and the youngest three residing with James’ brother.
Before sentencing, Angela’s family members delivered emotional victim impact statements.One daughter stated her “life, and the world, will truly never be the same” without her mother, CNN reported. Angela’s sister described James as “dishonest, a cheat and a heartless excuse of a human being.”
Judge Shay Whitaker, during the sentencing, emphasized the scope of the devastation caused by Craig, stating, “Dr. Craig unleashed a path of destruction as wide as a tornado and just as devastating – damage to his children, damage to Angela’s family, damage to his own family,” according to ABC News.
Following his sentencing, Craig was transferred to Bent County Correctional Facility. The Colorado Department of Corrections confirms he remains there as of today.
