WhatsApp Scheduled Messages: Send Messages Later – Release Date & How To
WhatsApp is testing a native message scheduling feature for its iOS beta users, according to updates rolling out via TestFlight, version 25.26.10.71. The long-awaited functionality will allow users to compose messages and designate a specific date and time for their delivery, automating a process previously requiring third-party applications or workarounds.
The development, first reported by WABetaInfo, is now confirmed by multiple sources tracking WhatsApp updates. Even as currently limited to iOS beta testers, the feature is expected to expand to Android and desktop platforms following a successful testing phase. The rollout timeline remains unconfirmed, but testing suggests a global release for iOS users is anticipated in the coming weeks.
This addition places WhatsApp in line with other messaging platforms that already offer scheduled messaging, addressing a frequently requested feature from its user base. Currently, users seeking to schedule messages rely on third-party apps or manual reminders to send messages at a later time.
Alongside scheduled messages, Meta is actively testing a range of new features for WhatsApp, including AI-powered tools. These include the ability to generate AI wallpapers based on text prompts and summarize lengthy chat threads using Meta AI, as reported in May 2025. The ‘Ask Meta AI’ shortcut, also currently in beta for iOS, allows users to clarify, fact-check, or gather additional information about messages directly within chats, referencing the original message content for context. Meta has emphasized that access to inbox messages is restricted; Meta AI only processes content explicitly submitted by the user with a specific query.
The introduction of AI features extends beyond wallpapers and summaries. Users are also being tested for the ability to create AI-generated profile photos and group icons using text prompts. Sticker reactions are also being expanded to include third-party stickers, AI stickers, downloaded packs, and animated stickers. Other features under development include new send animations, status resharing with privacy controls, and per-chat translation language settings.
Meta’s continued investment in WhatsApp’s feature set comes as the platform competes with other messaging services. The company has consistently highlighted its commitment to user privacy, particularly with the integration of Meta AI, ensuring user control over data access and usage.
