WhatsApp Scheduled Messages: Never Miss a Birthday Again
WhatsApp is preparing to launch a feature allowing users to schedule messages, a move aimed at alleviating the common frustration of forgetting important dates like birthdays and anniversaries, according to reports emerging Wednesday.
The messaging giant is currently testing the functionality, which will enable users to compose a message and select a specific date and time for it to be sent. WhatsApp will then deliver the message automatically, even if the sender is offline, according to tech news site WABetaInfo, which first reported on the feature.
The “Scheduled Messages” feature was discovered in the iOS beta version 26.7.10.72. Currently, iPhone users seeking to schedule messages must utilize the Shortcuts app, while Android users rely on third-party applications. WhatsApp’s native implementation would streamline this process, offering a more integrated experience.
The upcoming feature is expected to be particularly useful for time-sensitive communications such as birthday greetings, appointment reminders, and other pre-planned events. The planned message will be stored in the background until the designated send time, ensuring timely delivery without requiring the user to be actively using the app.
While an official launch date remains unconfirmed, the fact that the feature is already embedded in the beta code suggests a release is imminent. The development addresses a widespread issue, as many individuals struggle to remember and send timely greetings to contacts, as highlighted by numerous online resources offering pre-written birthday wishes and messages.
Numerous websites offer suggestions for WhatsApp birthday messages, ranging from humorous to heartfelt, demonstrating the demand for convenient and personalized greetings. One site, Wunschhub.de, provides over 300 options, while Mouni.de offers 94 different messages. These resources underscore the importance users place on crafting the right message for their contacts.
