Android 5 Support Ends in September
The messaging application requires a minimum of Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) starting September 8, 2026, according to coverage by Heute. Devices running Android 5.0 (Lollipop), which originally launched in 2014, or Android 5.1 from 2015, cannot run the software updates required for newer features and security standards.
