by David Harrison – Chief Editor

West Virginia University’s football team suffered a disappointing 17-10 defeat against Ohio University Saturday, raising concerns about the Mountaineers‘ offensive strategy and execution. The loss at Milan Puskar Stadium marks a significant setback for WVU as they begin the 2023 season.

The game revealed stark offensive struggles for West Virginia, particularly in the second half were the team abandoned the running game in favor of 19 passing attempts despite limited success. This tactical shift, coupled with ineffective contributions from the running backs, contributed to the Mountaineers’ inability to generate consistent drives and ultimately secure a victory.

West Virginia managed only 10 points against Ohio, a team they were heavily favored to defeat. After halftime, the Mountaineers’ passing attack faltered, and the running game offered no option. This offensive stagnation allowed Ohio to control the clock and maintain a lead throughout the second half.
