Westsydney Wanderers Sign Angus Thurgate – Transfer News

Parramatta,NSW – Western Sydney ⁤Wanderers FC ⁤have announced the signing of midfielder⁢ Angus ‍Thurgate to a three-year contract,extending ⁢through the end of the 2027/28 Isuzu UTE A-League​ season.

The 25-year-old Thurgate brings critically important ⁢A-League experience to ⁣the wanderers, having appeared ​in over 170 top-flight matches. He⁤ joins from⁤ Western United, where ​he was named Player of the Season ⁣for the⁤ 2024/25 campaign, following six seasons with ‍the Newcastle Jets Academy adn first-team.

“We’re ⁣delighted to bring Angus to‍ the club,” said‌ Head Coach Alen Stajcic. ‍”He‍ has been a standout player in‌ the⁢ A-League in recent years and brings quality play, a‌ wealth⁣ of ​experience and tremendous character to our squad.”

Thurgate expressed ‌his enthusiasm for joining ⁣the club.​ “The possibility to ⁤join a⁤ top ‌group of players ⁣and staff drew me in to the club ‍straight away,” he said. “Speaking⁢ with Staj and ⁤understanding the process and ⁢the direction of the club​ made it an easy decision.”

He ⁤added, “I’m looking forward to helping the ​team build on the back‍ of last season and challenging at the ‌top come the end of ⁤the⁣ season. I’m​ excited to experience CommBank Stadium as a Wanderer, it’s always been a tough place to come as ‌a travelling team, so ⁤I’m looking forward to getting out there and‍ representing the West of Sydney.”

Thurgate will immediately join his new teammates as the Wanderers prepare for ⁢the ⁤Isuzu UTE A-League season kickoff on October 18, 2025.
