Youngstown State University Adds Western Pennsylvania Golf Star Jack Sacriponte
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Jack Sacriponte, a highly-regarded golfer from Greensburg, pennsylvania, has committed to play for the Youngstown State University men’s golf program beginning in the fall of 2026, head coach Tony Joy announced Thursday. The signing adds a proven competitor from a strong golf region to the Penguins’ roster.
Joy expressed his enthusiasm for the addition, stating, “We are really fortunate to add Jack to our roster and program for next fall. He is a talented and accomplished golfer who has had a very accomplished high school and junior golf career in greater Western Pennsylvania. Jack has competed at a high level, and we expect him to be a major part of our team in the future.”
Sacriponte recently concluded his senior season at Greater Latrobe Senior High School with a second-place finish at the PIAA 3A State Championship, carding rounds of 71 and 66 for a two-round total of 137 (-7) at the Penn State Blue Course. He finished just one stroke behind the leader.
As a senior in 2025, Sacriponte also secured a second-place finish at the WPIAL 3A Championship with a two-round score of 140 (70-70) and contributed to Greater Latrobe’s undefeated regular season. Prior to his senior year, as a junior in 2024, Sacriponte won the Pittsburgh Open at Glenngary Golf Course with a two-round 148 (76-72).
Sacriponte’s accomplishments extend beyond high school competition. He was selected for USNDP Team Pennsylvania, an elite junior golf team affiliated with the USGA’s U.S.National Development Program,and has qualified for both the West Penn Open Championship and the West Penn Amateur. He also reached the semifinal round of the C.R. Miller Match Play Invitational and tied for second place at the 105th WPGA Junior Championship in 2025.
