Rain is Forecast too Return to Southern Quebec on monday
MONTREAL - After weeks of unusually low water levels on the St. Lawrence River, reaching their lowest point as 2012, a shift in the weather pattern will bring much-needed precipitation to southern Quebec starting Monday. The return of rain is anticipated by boaters, Hydro-Québec, and SOPFEU, though meteorologists caution against expectations of notable flooding.
the first weather system will arrive in western Quebec on Sunday, gradually spreading across the southern portion of the province, encompassing areas from Gatineau to Estrie.According to meteorologist Mr. Pellerin, the system’s full impact will be felt from Monday through Tuesday, with current simulations predicting approximately twenty millimeters of rainfall across all regions.A second system, linked to the first and influenced by precipitation in New England, is expected to arrive Wednesday, though its exact trajectory remains somewhat uncertain.
While a flood is not anticipated, the combined affect of these systems is projected to deliver between 20 and 30 millimeters of rain to southern quebec throughout the week. The slow-moving nature of the initial system, lingering from Wednesday to Friday, will contribute to the accumulated rainfall.
Meteorologists also suggest the possibility of a wetter autumn with October and November traditionally being the rainiest months of the year, especially if warmer temperatures persist. “Especially if the heat lasts a little,” Mr. Pellerin added.
