MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Children in Marquette gained a captivating glimpse into the animal kingdom Saturday, learning about the progress of creatures before birth at the peter White public Library.
Author Carrie Pearson launched her new book, Watch Them Grow, at the library, sharing insights into the gestation process of various animals. The book, geared towards children ages 9 to 12,details the formation of key features in 12 different species.
“I wanted to just be able to share what’s going on in there,” Pearson explained. “the book looks at 12 different animals, and we get to learn how wings are formed in a bat, and whiskers in a mouse, how shark teeth are formed before they’re born.”
Pearson noted that the internal development of animals is frequently enough unseen and under-discussed. Watch them Grow aims to fill that knowledge gap, even educating the author herself during the writing process.
