iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson Performs A Cappella National Anthem at Steelers Game
pittsburgh,PA – Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson delivered a stirring a cappella rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” prior to the Pittsburgh Steelers NFL game on Sunday. The performance, confirmed by Dickinson in a recent interview on The Charismatic Voice podcast, drew attention online as fans reacted to the British musician performing the American anthem.
Dickinson, currently touring North America with his solo project The Mandrake Project, was invited by the Steelers to perform the anthem. “I’ve got to sing the national anthem in Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They’ve asked me to do this. I’m going to do it a cappella and stuff, and as long as you start at the right place, your good to go,” he stated on the podcast. The unexpected choice sparked conversation among NFL fans, with many expressing surprise at the selection of a U.K.-based artist for the traditionally American pre-game ceremony.
The singer’s appearance comes as Iron Maiden prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025. A documentary chronicling the band’s history, directed by Malcolm Venville, is slated for release later this year and will feature interviews with current and former band members, including the late Paul Di’Anno, in his final interview. Dickinson’s North American tour continues Tuesday in Toronto, with dates scheduled through October 5th in Los Angeles.
