Stage Victory for Turner as Five-Rider Break Survives Late challenges
A determined performance saw Turner claim a stage win, breaking down in tears upon crossing the finish line. “the best drivers at all were there, everything just got together. I believed in myself that I can do it,” Turner stated, visibly emotional after the race.
The decisive move came after the ascent of Col du Lautaret, the third and final categorized climb situated approximately 130 kilometers from the finish. A leading group of five riders established itself, and despite a brief solo effort from Spaniard Sinuhé Fernández, the quintet maintained its advantage. A late crash within the main peloton, occurring around ten kilometers from the finish, did not impact the stage result.
