VTM Extends PDC Rights to Cover All Darts Events From 2027

March 23, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Belgian broadcaster VTM has significantly expanded its partnership with the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), securing the rights to broadcast all European Tour events beginning in 2027. The deal builds upon a pre-existing agreement established in 2020, which already included free-to-air coverage of major PDC events like the World Darts Championship and Premier League, as well as Belgian European Tour tournaments.

Under the recent terms, VTM will air all European Tour tournaments live across its VTM 4 and VTM 4 channels, and its VTM GO streaming service. The expansion coincides with a period of growing popularity for darts in Belgium, highlighted by the success of the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze and a sold-out Premier League night held in Antwerp in February.

This year’s Belgian Darts Open, taking place from March 20 to 22 at the Oktoberhallen in Wieze, features a £230,000 prize fund, with £35,000 awarded to the winner. Luke Humphries ultimately won the tournament, defeating Jonny Clayton 8-6 in the final. The event attracted a 48-player field. VTM is broadcasting the event on VTM 2, providing commentary, analysis, and player interviews.

PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter stated, “We’re delighted to extend and expand our partnership with VTM, who have been instrumental in the growth of darts in Belgium in recent years.” He added, “The increased coverage across all PDC tournaments is a significant step forward and underlines both the strength of the partnership and the continued rise of the sport in the region.”

The expanded VTM deal is part of a broader trend of increased broadcast investment in the PDC. Recently, the PDC extended its rights agreement with DAZN across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH) through 2031. In the UK, Sky Sports saw a peak audience of 2.5 million viewers for the 2026 World Darts Championship final, where Luke Littler defeated Gian van Veen. Sky holds the primary broadcast package for PDC events in the UK. ITV also renewed its agreement in October to broadcast The Masters, UK Open, European Championship, and the Players Championship finals, as well as a minimum of seven events from the World Series of Darts, until 2028.

Other recent broadcast agreements include deals with Viaplay in the Netherlands and L’Equipe in France. The PDC has also increased prize money for European Tour events to £230,000, with the winner receiving £35,000, as part of a wider boost to prize funds across the tour.
