Voters in the George-Little Rock Community School District will decide on Tuesday whether to authorize up to $14.95 million in general obligation bonds for campus improvements across Little Rock and George, KIWA Radio reported.

Proposition SD Requires 60 Percent Voter Approval

Polls for the special election will be open on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. District officials noted that Proposition SD appears on the back of the ballot directly below the statewide constitutional amendment question.

The ballot measure requires at least 60% voter approval to pass. Property owners evaluating the potential financial impact can use a dedicated calculator available on the school district’s bond information page.

Planned Infrastructure Projects in Little Rock and George

The district estimates the full cost of the sweeping district-wide improvements at approximately $17 million. The proposed $14.95 million bond would cover the bulk of the expense, with the remaining balance funded through school sales tax revenue.

At the elementary school located in Little Rock, plans feature the addition of ground-level classrooms, restroom renovations, heating and cooling upgrades, and a brand-new playground. Meanwhile, the middle and high school campus situated in George is slated to receive targeted updates for agriculture, industrial technology, and family and consumer science learning spaces.

The wide-ranging proposal also targets common infrastructural needs. Renovations are scheduled for the kitchen and commons area, alongside upgrades to the elevator and the fitness center. Outside the main facilities, crews will resurface the track and make necessary improvements to the bus barn.

Lyon County Taxpayers Can Review Property Tax Projections

District leadership structured the funding plan to combine general obligation debt with existing revenue streams. Lyon County taxpayers can review specific property tax projections ahead of the Tuesday deadline using the district’s online assessment tools.
