Volvo Discontinues V90 Wagon After Nine Years
GOTHENBURG,SWEDEN – Volvo Cars will cease production of the V90 wagon after a nine-year run,the automaker confirmed this month. The decision aligns with Volvo’s strategic shift toward an all-electric lineup, prioritizing SUVs and crossovers.
The V90, a premium estate car, faced a brief sales hiatus in the UK market in 2023 due to demand fluctuations, but was reintroduced the following year.Despite this,Volvo has persistent that discontinuing the V90 is necessary to streamline production and focus resources on its expanding electric vehicle portfolio. the S90 sedan will continue to be manufactured for select Asian markets, while the V60 will remain the sole wagon offering in Europe.
Former Volvo CEO Jim Rowan affirmed the production halt as part of the brand’s broader restructuring. The move underscores a growing industry trend of automakers refining thier model ranges to accommodate the transition to electric mobility.
