Finland’s Win Over South Korea Creates Two Paths to Advancement for Argentina in Vololeibol Filipinas 2025
MANILA, Philippines – September 18, 2025, 00:45 – Finland’s 3-1 victory against South Korea on Thursday has opened up two potential routes for Argentina to advance to the round of 16 at the Vololeibol Filipinas 2025 tournament.
Argentina now faces France at 7:00 PM (Argentine time) with a win guaranteeing both qualification for the next stage and first place in group C.
Though, even a narrow loss – a 2-3 result - doesn’t eliminate Marcelo Méndez’s team. In that scenario, a three-way tie would occur, requiring a complex tie-breaking procedure based on the point ratio (coefficient of so many) between Argentina and Finland.
Should all three teams (Argentina, Finland, and France) end with equal records in wins, points, and set ratio, the tie will be broken by the coefficient of points scored. Currently, Argentina holds a slight advantage with a point ratio of 1.047, compared to Finland’s 1.034. A five-set loss for Argentina would see France win the group, leaving Argentina and Finland tied on all other metrics.
Key Performances:
finland’s victory was fueled by strong individual performances. Tip receiver Luka Marttila led all scorers with 25 points, while opposite Joonas Jokela contributed 21. South Korea’s Shin Hojin was the top performer for the Asian team, registering 24 points.
