Vivo S70 to feature 64MP periscope camera and Snapdragon 8s Gen 4
Vivo builds mid-range photography push around 64-megapixel periscope optics
Vivo is completing development on its next mid-range smartphone, the vivo S70, featuring optical and processor upgrades. Following the May launch of the S60 series in China, the upcoming device targets advanced photography capabilities through a high-resolution periscope system.
Sony LYT610 sensor drives focal length extension
Digital Chat Station reported on Weibo that the vivo S70 utilizes a 64-megapixel periscope camera equipped with a Sony LYT610 sensor. The system supports an optical focal length extender, or teleconverter, allowing the periscope lens to increase its effective focal length without altering the physical module size.
This hardware combination aims to deliver long-distance image zoom with high detail while reducing aberration and noise common in digital zoom methods.
Snapdragon 8s silicon powers 1.5K AMOLED panel
The device features a 6.59-дюймовый (6.59-inch) AMOLED LTPS display with a 1.5K resolution to deliver high pixel density. Processing power relies on a chip from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s series, expected to be the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. This processor includes an Image Signal Processor designed to support native algorithms for the 64-megapixel camera sensor.
Rear display dropped to trim chassis thickness
Early technical prototypes of the vivo S70 included a secondary rear display. Vivo ultimately removed this extra screen from the commercial build to optimize device thickness, weight, and battery capacity.
Domestic launch slated for next month in China
The official domestic launch for the vivo S70 in China is slated for next month, with an international release to follow.
