COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Virginia volleyball team embarks on its final non-conference road trip this weekend, facing challenging competition at the Ohio State Buckeye Invitational, September 13-14. The Cavaliers will square off against Duquesne, Ohio State, and Robert Morris in a two-day tournament at the Covelli Center.
Virginia is looking to build on a accomplished 2024 season that saw the program achieve its highest win total since 2006. The Cavaliers finished wiht 21 wins, including 11 in ACC play – the most conference victories since 2013 – and secured a berth in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship, marking their frist postseason appearance since 1999. This year’s team features a core of returning players poised to continue that momentum.
Leading the charge for UVA are seniors Kate Johnson (DS/L), Kadynce Booth (OH), and Kate Dean (MB), with Johnson being the lone Cavalier to have spent all four seasons with the program. The junior class is represented by Meredith Reeg (DS/L), returning from an injury-shortened 2024 season, and Lauryn Bowie (OH/RS).
Sophomores Zoey Dood (S), a 2024 All-ACC freshman team selection, and Becca Wight (RS) anchor the sophomore class, supported by Sarah Brodner (OH/RS) and Teagan Hogan (DS/L).The Buckeye Invitational provides a crucial opportunity for the team to refine its strategies and build cohesion before entering the rigorous ACC schedule.
